LOTUS GARDEN

Small-scale food forest

NODE BRIEF

With a food forest started in 2015, Lotus Garden is an example of what is possible with permaculture even on a small scale. The front yard is now a food garden that enables local conversations about local food systems.

Three swales and a redirected gutter system harvest water on site. The canopy is stacked with peach, pear, cherry, hazelnut, fig, persimmon, blueberry, and nitrogen-fixing companions.

It is a demonstration site, a seed bank in progress, and a place to test what a residential lot can actually carry.
