NODE BRIEF

BxM, short for benevolentXmachine, seeks to leverage tools to both critique dominant realities and promote permanent cultures. This is achieved through engineering, architecture, media production, critical media analysis, and in-house workshops.

The machine is not neutral. BxM asks who a tool serves, what it extracts, and whether it can be redirected toward repair.

Projects include design, construction, documentary, and publishing—often with whatever is already in the room.

“Since the bicycle makes little demand on material or energy resources, contributes little to pollution, makes a positive contribution to health and causes little death or injury, it can be regarded as the most benevolent of machines.”
S. S. Wilson, Bicycle Technology, Scientific American, March 1973
